I am started my hobby since 1984, when was hunting TV stations from Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Latvia and neighboring Kaliningrad region’s, was listening LW/MW broadcasting and navigational beacons. I had big interest to Scandinavia, their culture and languages. Monitored in Swedish and Danish weather forecasts and navigational warnings, from DMI and SMHI. Then I had a simple dual-band (LW/MW) broadcast Latvian receiver “Selga-402”, two meters long copper wire antenna on my balcony… From 1986 to 1987, I am listened SW-broadcast bands already and receiver was “Ural-2-Avto”. 1988-1989 studied in Vilnius, capital city of Lithuania. After my arriving to native city Klaipeda, I am continued my activity in our hobby. Then I obtain lot of radio equipment, but I had not enough of experience for an HAM-bands superheterodyne to built. I dreamed to become a radio amateur, to participate in SWL activity. When I found out a book of V.T.Poliakov (RA3AAE) “To Radio Amateurs: about Direct Conversion Technics”, it was true joy to me. I build several receivers for 3,5/7/14/21/27/28/144 MHz and little bit later got my first call signal of SWL – UP2-038-1396. It was July 13th 1991. This year I got a present from my colleagues – nice Russian maritime (almost all-bander) receiver “Volna-K”. After Restoration of Lithuanian Independency, my SWL call signals were LYC-3 and DX-er’s call signal LY-JK. My main “directions” in our hobby are “travelling on air”, hunting of QSLs from exotic stations (broadcast/amateur/beacons/maritime) and building of direct conversion equipment. In 1997 I got my first operator’s call signal – LY3NQN, national class C, for beginners. Since 1998 I raised to B class licence and call signal changes to LY3QN. From 2005 my radio amateur licence is A class.
